Aperture coupled feeding is incorporated with microstrip line exciting the rectangular patch radiator via two slots. The dual slots are utilized for enhancing the impedance bandwidth of antenna. A physical offset is introduced in the dual slots that is mainly done for obtaining a beam tilt towards the end-fire direction. Shorting via walls are introduced between the patch radiator and ground plane for obtaining a much higher beam tilt. Moreover, shorting vias also aid in impedance matching. The proposed antenna is wideband attaining operational bandwidth from 26 to 29.5 GHz that accounts for fractional bandwidth of 12.6%. Also, peak gain of around 7 dBi is obtained for the available aperture. Beam tilting is mainly achieved for directing radiation beam away from the broadside to end-fire direction since end-fire antennas are feasible and preferred for 5G mobile applications. © 2021 Taiwan Microwave Association.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessantenna-in-package (AiP)aperture couplingend-fire directionmmWave 5Goffset feeding5G mobile communication systemsAntenna feedersAntenna groundsBandwidthElectric impedanceFiresMillimeter wavesRadiatorsSlot antennasAntenna in packagesAntenna-in-packageAperture couplingsDual slotsEnd-fireEnd-fire directionMm wavesMmwave 5gOffset feedingPackage designsMicrowave antennasA Thin Dual Slot Based Offset-Fed Beam Tilted Mmwave 5g Aip DesignConference Object10.23919/ISAP47258.2021.96146072-s2.0-85123303271
