Bu bölgelerle ilgilenebilmek için, transatlantikittifakın, NATO'nun genişlemesinin devamı ve bu yeni güvenlik tehditlerine karşıçıkmak için alanı dışında görevlendirilebilmesi şartlarını içeren NATO'nuntransformasyonunu gerçekleştirmesi gereklidir.This thesis analyses one of the most important debates on the transatlantic security inthe 21st century, which is the presence of NATO in this new era and itstransformation. After the end of the Cold War with the 20th century, the new centurybrought new security challenges which are mostly terrorism, weapons of massdestruction, regional conflicts, state failure and organized crime. Considering thesenew security challenges of the 21st century, there are at least two major strategiclocations that affect vital American and European security interests and requiretransatlantic cooperation and NATO. One is the eastern Europe. And the other is theMiddle East.
