2000 yılında Hollanda Maastricht Üniversitesi’nde Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) programını tamamlamıştır.
2003 yılında altı ay süreyle ABD’de Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Tıp Eğitimi Anabilim Dalında, Foundation for Advancament of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) bursuyla çalışmıştır.
2002-2022 yılları arasında Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi (DEÜTF) Tıp Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı Başkanlığı görevini üstlenmiştir. Fakültede eğitici gelişim programları, müfredat kurulu ve ölçme değerlendirme kurulu başkanlıkları üstlenmiştir.
Tıp Eğitimini Geliştirme Derneğinin (TEGED) kurucu üyelerindendir. 2004-2008 yılları ve 2016-2017 yılları arasında derneğin yönetim kurulu başkanlığını üstlenmiştir.
2008-2016 yılları arasında Ulusal Tıp Eğitimi Akreditasyon Kurulu (UTEAK) üyeliği ve UTEAK-Standartları Belirleme ve Geliştirme Komisyonu başkanlığı, 2016-2018 yılları arasında UTEAK başkan yardımcılığı, 2019-2021 yılları arasında UTEAK başkanlığı görevlerini üstlenmiştir. Halen önceki başkan olarak UTEAK üyeliği devam etmektedir.
Yükseköğretim Kalite Kurulu (YÖKAK) Kurumsal Dış Değerlendirme ve Kurumsal Akreditasyon Programında takım başkanı olarak çeşitli üniversitelerin değerlendirme süreçlerinde görev almıştır.
Çalışma alanlarını; program geliştirme, program değerlendirme, probleme dayalı öğrenme, eğitimde bilişim teknolojileri kullanımı ve eğitici gelişimi oluşturmaktadır.

Berna Musal, MD, MHPE, graduated from Ege University Medical Faculty in 1982. She is trained as a Public Health specialist. She was promoted as Associate Professor in 1996 and Professor in 2022.
She received Master of Health Profession Education Degree from Maastricht University Faculty of Health Sciences in 2000.
She is an alumni of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education-International Fellowship in Medical Education (FAIMER-IFME). She worked in the Medical Education Department of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine during February-August 2003 period.
She worked as the chair of Medical Education Department of Dokuz Eylul University School of Medicine between 2002 and 2022. She was the director of Faculty development programs and educational committees such as curriculum committee, measurement and evaluation committee.
She is one of the founding members of Association for the Advancement of Medical Education. She was the chair of the executive committee of Association for the Advancement of Medical Education between 2004-2008 and 2016-2017.
She worked as a member of the National Medical Education Accreditation Board (UTEAK) and Standarts Setting and Development Commission between 2008 and 2016. She assumed the position of vice president of UTEAK between 2016-2018 and chairman of UTEAK between 2019-2021. She is still a member of UTEAK as the former president.
She was assigned as head of teams to several universities’ evaluation process in the scope of Institutional External Evaluation Program and Institutional Accreditation Program of Turkish Higher Education Quality Council.
