Ayse Banu Demir is a Faculty Member at the Department of Basic Medical Sciences of Faculty of Medicine. She received her BSc. (2007) degree from Bilkent University/Turkey and MSc. (2009) and PhD. (2015) degrees from Izmir Institute of Technology/Turkey in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics. During her education, she did research in Neurogenetics and Gene Therapy Departments at Karolinska Institute/Sweden and in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at University of Gothenburg/Sweden. She worked as a research assistant in the Institute of Oncology at Dokuz Eylul University/Turkey (2012-2016) and had a second MSc. (2016) degree in the field of Basic Oncology from this institute. Her research interests include molecular biology of cellular aging and molecular mechanisms of drug cytotoxicity and resistance and phylogenetic analysis.[Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID): 0000-0003-4616-8151]
