Hazal Bayar took her BA degree in Bahcesehir University, Communication Faculty and her MA degree in United Kingdom at Bournemouth University, Post-Production Editing department. She finished her first PhD in Switzerland at European Graduate School, with her dissertation titled, 'Beyond Oedipus: Female Hysteria in Horror Film Reconsidered', she finished her second PhD at Izmir University of Economics, Design Studies department with her dissertation titled 'Kawaii Horror'. Apart from her academic studies, she won Best Documentary Award in 17th International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival with her documentary 'Four Walls One Window' and won Silver Award at Spotlight Horror Film Festival in USA with her horror film 'Orchid and the Wasp'. Her experimental horror film 'Everything Unnerves Me' is screened in many international and national film festivals. She worked with director Serdar Kökçeoğlu in three of his films as an editor, 'Blue, Revolution and VHS Tapes', 'Usmanbas: Modernist' and 'Zenistan'.
