Hazal Bayar took her BA degree in Bahcesehir University, Communication Faculty and her MA degree in United Kingdom at Bournemouth University, Post-Production Editing department. She finished her PhD in Switzerland at European Graduate School, with her dissertation titled, 'Beyond Oedipus: Female Hysteria in Horror Film Reconsidered', in which she worked on the relation between psychoanalysis and cinema. Apart from her academic studies, she won Best Documentary Award in 17th International Adana Golden Boll Film Festival with her documentary 'Four Walls One Window' and won Silver Award at Spotlight Horror Film Festival in USA with her horror film 'Orchid and the Wasp'. Her films are screened in many international and national film festivals. Currently, she's a PhD candidate, doing her second PhD at Izmir University of Economics, Design Studies and working on her dissertation where she researches contemporary Japanese horror and school uniform relation within the context of body horror and representation of woman.
