Bütünleşik doktora eğitimine 2021 yılından itibaren İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi Elektrik-Elektronik Mühendisliği Bölümü'nde devam etmektedir. Aynı bölümde araştırma görevlisi olarak çalışmakta olup, aynı zamanda TÜBİTAK bursiyeridir. Güncel çalışma konuları biyomedikal sinyal işleme, makine öğrenmesi ve derin öğrenme üzerinedir.

Burak Akbugday graduated from Zongulak Bulent Ecevit University, Department of Biomedical Engineering in 2017 as the valedictorian, as well as the salutatorian of the Faculty of Engineering. During his undergraduate studies, he received various grants from TUBITAK and other related institutions.
Since 2021, he is studying in the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering in Izmir University of Economics towards his PhD degree as an integrated-PhD student. He also works at the same department as a research assistant and is currently receiving a scholarship from TUBITAK. His current research is focused on biomedical signal processing, machine learning and deep learning.
