Biography
Gökhan Torun, İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi (İTÜ) Fizik Mühendisliği Lisans programından Haziran 2010’da mezun olduktan sonra, aynı üniversiteden yüksek lisans (Ocak 2013) ve doktora (Şubat 2019) derecelerini de almıştır. Doktora eğitiminin son yılında (Ocak 2018 - Ocak 2019), TÜBİTAK 2214A Yurt Dışı Doktora Sırası Araştırma Burs Programı’ndan aldığı destek ile Nottingham Üniversitesi'nde Quantum Correlations grubuna katılarak araştırmalar yapmıştır. Doktorasını tamamladıktan sonra (Şubat 2019), sırasıyla İTÜ, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi, Koç Üniversitesi ve TÜBİTAK Temel Bilimler Araştırma Enstitüsü’nde, toplamda 4,5 yıl boyunca (Mart 2019 – Eylül 2023) doktora sonrası araştırmacı olarak çeşitli projelerde görev almıştır. 1 Mart 2024 – 31 Ocak 2025 tarihleri arasında Alanya Üniversitesi Bilgisayar Mühendisliği Bölümü’nde Fizik ve Matematik dersleri vermiştir. Araştırmaları, Kuantum Enformasyon Teorisi, Kuantum Kaynak Teorisi ve Kuantum Teknolojileri üzerine yoğunlaşmaktadır. Gökhan Torun, 3 Şubat 2025’te İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi Fizik Bölümü’nde Dr. Öğr. Üyesi olarak göreve başlamış olup çalışmalarına burada devam etmektedir.

Gökhan Torun received his B.Sc. degree in Physics Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in June 2010, followed by M.Sc. (January 2013) and Ph.D. (February 2019) degrees from the same institution. During the final year of his doctoral studies (January 2018 – January 2019), he joined the Quantum Correlations group at the University of Nottingham with support from the TÜBİTAK 2214A International Research Fellowship Programme for Ph.D. Students. After completing his Ph.D. (February 2019), he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Istanbul Technical University, Boğaziçi University, Koç University, and the TÜBİTAK Research Institute for Fundamental Sciences, contributing to various projects over a total period of 4.5 years (March 2019 – September 2023). Between March 1, 2024, and January 31, 2025, he taught Physics and Mathematics courses in the Department of Computer Engineering at Alanya University. His research focuses on Quantum Information Theory, Quantum Resource Theories, and Quantum Technologies. As of February 3, 2025, Gökhan Torun has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at İzmir University of Economics, where he continues his academic work.
