Hydrogen is increasingly recognized as a crucial element in a sustainable future, providing a variety of solutions to address the climate crisis. Its importance is emphasized by its adaptability, high energy content, and capacity to decarbonize a number of industries, including steel production, the chemical sector (e.g., ammonia and methanol production), oil refining, power generation, and transportation. This paper presents the results of a survey on biobased hydrogen production, presenting a global overview of current practices. It emphasizes the biochemical and thermochemical conversion methods that can transform biomass into high-value-added chemicals, fuels, and biohydrogen. The study is also intended to create a structured database detailing previous research, country-specific assessments, and key stakeholders in biohydrogen production. The survey's findings show that the production of biobased hydrogen differs significantly between countries, with some emphasizing fermentation-based techniques whereas others prioritize thermochemical processes. The study also highlights a lack of large-scale data and the need for a centralized research database. The results offer valuable insights to guide future research and policy development in the biohydrogen sector.en_US
