Abstract: This paper presents an antenna designed for autonomous vehicles and MIMO radar systems. MIMO radar enhances detection and resolution by using multiple antennas. The research covers the design and performance evaluation of MIMO radar antennas, aiming to advance radar technology. The antenna is made on Rogers RO4003C (dielectric constant 3.55, thickness 0.203 mm) and operates at 76.5 GHz with single and multiple circularly polarized configurations. One antenna was fabricated, showing a strong correlation between simulated and measured reflection coefficients. Key parameters like the 2D radiation pattern, realized gain, and axial ratio are discussed. Circularly polarized (CP) antennas are favored for their advantages: orientation independence, reduced multi-path fading, and compatibility with linear polarization systems. The gain of the four-element CP antenna at 76.5 GHz reaches 8.23 dB as an array, intended for future MIMO radar applications to enhance field of view and angle resolution. © 2025 Institut fur Mikrowellen und Antennentechnik - IMA.
