A Message Broker Based Architecture for Context Aware Iot Application Development
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2017) Guner A.; Kurtel, Kaan; Celikkan U.
Internet of Things (IoT) refers to interConnectivity of different devices and services through applications, sensors and industrial equipments. A fundamental aspect of this interConnectivity is the transfer of the data from providers to requestors via a data transportation channel. However, the many-to-many relationship between the requestors and providers makes communication management difficult. The presence of a broker based publish/subscribe architecture between a provider and requestor facilitates this process among devices as it seamlessly arbitrates the communication. In this paper, we propose a software architecture that employs a data and context orchestrator working in collaboration with a message broker to manage communication between requestors and providers. The article presents the details of the authentication and authorization process for verifying and validating the communication. © 2017 IEEE.

Publisher-Subscriber Based Context-Aware Application Development Platform
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2021) Guner A.; Celikkan U.; Kurtel, Kaan
In this study we propose an architecture and toolkit that eases development of context aware applications. Our motivation for building the platform is to provide a reference implementation to the software community for further enhancements, additions, and improvements. The platform is called "A Platform for Context Aware Application Development-PCAD". The platform is service based and provides its functions via seven services: namely. Context Modeling and Reasoning, Security, Rule, Data Management, Alarm and Notification, Transformation, and Reporting Service. MQTT is used as the context transfer protocol between requestor, providers, and the platform itself Token and password-based scheme is used for authentication. Role and Attribute based access control is used to enforce authorization. Document database is chosen as the database model. © 2021 IEEE

Pulse Transit Time Based Blood Pressure Estimation in Labview Environment Using Non-Contact Ecg Electrodes and Pulse Sensor
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2019) Guner A.; Kilickaya S.; Bayindir N.S.
Sphygmomanometers are conventionally used for measuring blood pressure, namely systolic and diastolic pressures. While measuring the maximum output pressure of the heart, namely systolic, the blood flow is cut with the pressure exerted by the cuff, which may discomfort the patient. To avoid this discomfort, we propose a contactless and cuffless blood pressure measurement system (CBPS) of estimating the blood pressure using non-contact capacitively coupled ECG electrodes and a commercial pulse sensor together with an analog signal acquisition circuitry and a LabVIEW program which calculates the systolic and diastolic pressures from the pulse transit time (PTT). Moreover, non-contact ECG electrodes do not need conductive gel, and the CBPS provides almost instant BP results. These features of the CBPS enable continuous recording of the blood pressure together with the ECG signals in a holter device utilizing contactless electrodes. © 2019 Chamber of Turkish Electrical Engineers.
