Gulfem Akdogan received her Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Bogazici University in 1994. She worked for Ankara University TOMER as an English instructor for a year. In 1995, she joined Pinar Food Group where she worked for over seven years in the Import Department. Between 2002 and 2003, she worked for PhilSA as ISO Quality and Environmental Management System Assistant. Having decided to return to her teaching career, she completed a two-semestre course on English Language Teaching and Pedagogical Formation at Ege University where she received her qualification. She then worked for the Foreign Languages Department at Ege University between 2003 and 2006 as an English instructor and consultant to the Testing Committee until she joined Izmir University of Economics. At IUE, she is an instructor of English. Between the years 2008 and 2011, she also served as a member of Curriculum and Materials Development Unit. Since 2019 she has also been a member of the SFL Activity Center team.
