Tuğba Örten Tuğrul graduted from Yeditepe University, Department of Business Administration as a valedictorian, where she had received a full undergarduate scholarship. She started her academic career as a Research Assistant at Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Administrative Sciences in 2005. She was as a Visiting Fellow at University of Texas Pan-American, in Business College to conduct her dissertation studies in 2008. After receiving her Ph.D degree from Izmir University of Economics, Department of Business Administration, she has been promoted to Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in 2011 and 2016, respectively.
