Çeşitli restorasyon, mimari ve iç mimari projelerinde çalışmış olan Avcı Hosanlı, 2022 yılı itibariyle İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi, İç Mimarlık ve Çevre Tasarımı Bölümü’nde Dr. Öğretim Üyesi (Assistant Professor) ünvanıyla çalışmaktadır. Mimarlık tarihi, içmimarlık tarihi, içmimarlık ve çevre tasarımı stüdyoları, çevresel analiz teknikleri ve sinema/mimarlık/mekan üzerine lisans ve yüksek lisans dersleri vermektedir.
Avcı Hosanlı'nın uzmanlık alanları erken Cumhuriyet Türkiye'sinde konut üretimi; Modern Hareket mimarisinin ve iç mekanlarının belgelenmesi ve korunması; erken Cumhuriyet dönemi sağlık mimarisi; ve sinema ile mimarlığın buluşması olarak listelenebilir. “Ankara'da İz Bırakan Mimarlar” adlı projede araştırmacı olarak çalışmakta ve “docomomo_tr İç Mekan Komitesi”nde komite üyesi olarak faaliyet göstermektedir. “Mimarlar Derneği 1927” kurumunun Modern Mimarlık Araştırmaları ödülünü 2022 yılında kazanmış olan “İyileşmenin Mimarisi: Türkiye Sanatoryum Mirasının Haritalandırılması” başlıklı projenin ortak yürütücüsüdür.

Deniz Avcı Hosanlı graduated from Başkent University, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design (with full scholarship) in 2009 with secondary place in graduate listing. She completed her master's degree in Conservation of Cultural Heritage at METU, Department of Architecture (2012) and completed her PhD in History of Architecture at the same university and department (2018) with her dissertation titled “Housing the Modern Nation: The Transformation of Residential Architecture in Ankara during the 1920s.”
Having worked in various restoration, architectural and interior design projects, as of 2022, Avcı Hosanlı works as Assistant Professor (PhD) at Izmir University of Economics, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on history of architecture, history of interior architecture, interior architecture and environmental design studios, environmental analysis techniques, and cinema/architecture/space.
Avcı Hosanlı’s areas of expertise are housing production in early Republican Turkey; documentation and conservation of Modern Movement architecture and their interiors; early Turkish Republican period healthcare architecture; and concurrence of cinema and architecture. She is a researcher in the project titled “Architects who left their marks in Ankara” and a committee member in “docomomo_tr Interior Design Committee.” Currently, she is co-leading a project which won the Modern Architecture Research grant titled “Architecture of Convalescence: Mapping the Sanatorium Heritage of Turkey” by “Turkish Architects’ Association 1927.”
