| gperson.biography | Dr Umut Can Adısönmez is Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Izmir University of Economics. He graduated from the International Relations Department of Bilkent University in 2015. He completed his master's degree in Global Studies at Lund University, where he was awarded the Lund University Global Scholarship. Adısönmez obtained his PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent in 2021. For his doctoral research, he was awarded with prestigious scholarships, including the Vice Chancellor Scholarship and the Sir Richard Stapley grant. Before joining Izmir University of Economics in 2021, he worked as Visiting Lecturer at City, University of London from 2019 to 2021. Adısönmez's research interests include emotions in international relations, political psychology, and Middle East politics. His work has been published in leading journals in the field, including Political Psychology, Middle East Critique, Critical Studies on Security, Alternatives, Southeast European and Black Sea Studies, Policy Studies, and Uluslararası İlişkiler. Adısönmez also serves as Assistant Editor for the journals Alternatives and Uluslararası İlişkiler. He has received the International Relations Council of Turkey Young Scholars Award in 2026. | |
