Marshall-Olkin Type Shock Models and Their Applications

Joint Behaviour of Precedences and Exceedances in Random Threshold Models
(Blackwell Publishing, 2008) Bairamov, Ismihan; Eryilmaz, Serkan
This paper concerns the joint behaviour of precedence and exceedance statistics in random threshold models. Joint distributions of precedence and exceedance statistics, both exact and asymptotic, are obtained, and the results are illustrated for random thresholds based on order statistics and record values.

From the Huang-Kotz Fgm Distribution To Baker's Bivariate Distribution
    (Elsevier Inc, 2013) Bairamov, I; Bayramoglu, K.
Huang and Kotz (1999) [17] considered a modification of the Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) distribution, introducing additional parameters, and paved the way for many research papers on modifications of FGM distributions allowing high correlation. The first part of the present paper is a review of recent developments on bivariate Huang-Kotz FGM distributions and their extensions. In the second part a class of new bivariate distributions based on Baker's system of bivariate distributions is considered. It is shown that for a model of a given order, this class of distributions with fixed marginals which are based on pairs of order statistics constructed from the bivariate sample observations of dependent random variables allows higher correlation than Baker's system. It also follows that under certain conditions determined by Lin and Huang (2010) [21], the correlation for these systems converges to the maximum Frechet-Hoeffding upper bound as the sample size tends to infinity. On Some Models of Ordered Random Variables and Characterizations of Distributions
(Pleiades Publishing Inc, 2020) Tavangar, Mahdi; Bayramoğlu, İsmihan
The concept of extended neighboring order statistics introduced in Asadi et al. (2001) is a general model containing models of ordered random variables that are included in the generalized order statistics. This model also includes several models of ordered random variables that are not included in the generalized order statistics and is a helpful tool in unifying characterization results from several models of ordered random variables. In this paper, some general classes of distributions with many applications in reliability analysis and engineering, such as negative exponential, inverse exponential, Pareto, negative Pareto, inverse Pareto, power function, negative power, beta of the first kind, rectangular, Cauchy, Raleigh, Lomax, etc., have been characterized by using the regression of extended neighboring order statistics and decreasingly ordered random variables.

Spacings, Exceedances and Concomitants in Progressive Type Ii Censoring Scheme
(Elsevier, 2006) Bairamov, I; Eryılmaz, Serkan
Distributional properties of spacings and exceedances based on progressive type II censored order statistics are investigated. Recurrence relations between moments of concomitants for the model of progressive type II censoring are given. We unify and extend some results on spacings, exceedances and concomitants for the model of progressive censoring. (c) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

    Residual Lifelengths of Censored Data
(İzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi, 2010) Franko, Ceki; Bayramoğlu, İsmihan
Geriye kalan elemanların kalan yaşam uzunlukları güvenilirlik analizinde, aktüerya biliminde ve sağ kalan analizinde büyük önem teşkil etmektedir. Butezde farklı sansürleme şemaları altında geriye kalan elemanların kalan yaşamuzunlukları araştırıldı. Dağılım özellikleri, ortalama geriye kalan yaşamlar vekarakterizasyonlarla ilgili bazı ilginç sonuçlar elde edildi.

    Order Statistics [2009]
    (Elsevier, 2009) Bairamov I.
The test scores of students in an exam are usually ordered by the lecturer in order to overview the exam results and to evaluate the class performance. Since the exam results are not completely predictable, we admit the assumption that the test scores of students are independent and identically distributed random variables. In this case the ordered scores actually represent the realizations of the order statistics, namely ordered values of independent and identically distributed random variables. These ordered random variables play an important role in statistical theory and its applications. This article is an attempt to describe some basic notions of the theory of order statistics, their properties and applications in estimation theory and hypothesis testing. We also discuss the role of order statistics in educational statistics and provide an example of an application, the drawing up of a shortlist for the selection of students from different schools for scholarship on the basis of the ordered test scores. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Limit Results for Ordered Uniform Spacings
(Springer, 2010) Bairamov, Ismihan; Berred, Alexandre; Stepanov, Alexei
    Let Delta (k:n) = X (k,n) - X (k-1,n) (k = 1, 2, . . . , n + 1) be the spacings based on uniform order statistics, provided X (0,n) = 0 and X (n+1,n) = 1. Obtained from uniform spacings, ordered uniform spacings 0 = Delta(0,n) < Delta(1,n) < . . . < Delta (n+1,n) , are discussed in the present paper. Distributional and limit results for them are in the focus of our attention.
