Integration of Green Lean Approach With Six Sigma: an Application for Flue Gas Emissions
(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2016) Sağnak, Muhittin; Kazançoğlu, Yiğit
Environmental considerations have led organizations to take an important role in designing environmentally-friendly, recyclable products to complement improvements in the environmental standards of services. In this context, the application of lean practices may result in pollution reduction. In this paper, firstly, the integration of green lean approach is discussed, and then the limitations of green lean approach are identified. Finally, we integrate the Six Sigma approach in order to overcome these limitations, and assess the performance of the green lean approach. Measurement System Analysis and Gage Control are used as methodology to measure the variations of the process in order to decrease unfavorable ecological impacts of companies' products or services, while enhancing environmental efficiency. Performance Assessment of a Factory Layout Design: Hybrid Multi Criteria Decision Making Model With an Application in the Elevator and Escalator Company

Integrated Fuzzy Topsis and Goal Programming Technique for Machine Selection Problem: an Application
(Computers and Industrial Engineering, 2014) Ada E.; Kazançoğlu, Yiğit; Sagnak M.
Globalization forces firms to adapt to changing market conditions and increased uncertainty. Shorter product life cycles, changing and increased customer expectations, and technological developments have specially suppressed manufacturing firms. In order to increase firms' performance and efficiency, machine and equipment selection is one of the most important decisions. In this study, the machine selection problem is solved by integrated fuzzy TOPSIS and goal programming techniques. The aim of the study is to provide managers meaningful support about machine selection problem. The criteria for machine selection are determined by literature review and managers' judgments. In the proposed method, the criteria weights are determined by fuzzy TOPSIS, and then the final selection of alternatives are made by goal programming.

Improving Competitiveness of Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises (smes) in Agriproduct Export Business Through Anp: the Turkey Case
(Wiley, 2013) Erhan ADA; Kazançoğlu, Yiğit; Sagnak, Muhittin
Agricultural production has considerable potential in Turkey. Different regions of the country are able to supply a variety of agricultural products due to the wide-range of climate conditions and high land quality. Also, the majority of the water resources in the region are located within the country. Hence, with the implementation of the effective agricultural policies, agricultural products can be significantly increased in terms of quality and quantity. In this context, this study investigates findings from an explanatory study of dried fruit production and exports to improve SMEs' competitiveness in the agriproduct export business. Turkey reported a trade deficit equivalent to USD 7533 million in November of 2011, and this shortfall is becoming more threatening day by day. Because Turkey has a comparative advantage in the dried food industry, it would be valuable to conduct a study to present a management decision tool to determine which factors are more important and to identify the weights that are most significant for dried fruit exporters. The analytical network process (ANP) method was selected to solve the problem because it has been successfully used to evaluate the factors when interdependency exists in between the decision criteria. The contributions of the study could be extended to other sectors and problem areas of business management because the approach, model, and methodology can be easily adopted by practitioners. Shift Scheduling With Fuzzy Logic: an Application With an Integer Programming Model
(Elsevier Science Bv, 2015) Sagnak, Muhittin; Kazançoğlu, Yiğit
The shift scheduling, which is one of the most crucial processes in order to increase efficiency and decrease labor costs, is a common phenomenon in both manufacturing and service organizations such as airlines, security services, fire stations, etc. In order to meet changing demand and keep responsiveness and flexibility, the shift scheduling includes the scheduling of manpower by assigning employees to shifts determined by types, length, and the number of breaks. The types of shifts may present variety such as part time and full time shifts. The breaks also show variety like lunch breaks, short rests, and compulsory reasons based on the occupational health and safety or necessities for maintenance. To overwhelm this complexity, this paper recommends an integer programming model integrated with fuzzy logic due to the vagueness inherited to the nature of decision-making process in order to provide flexibility in shift lengths, and lower the total labor costs. (Mdpi, 2021) Kazancoglu, Yigit; Sagnak, Muhittin; Lafci, Cisem; Luthra, Sunil; Kumar, Anil; Tacoglu, Caner
Ever-changing conditions and emerging new challenges affect the ability of the healthcare sector to survive with the current system, and to maintain its processes effectively. In the healthcare sector, the conservation of the natural resources is being obstructed by insufficient infrastructure for managing residual waste resulting from single-use medical materials, increased energy use, and its environmental burden. In this context, circularity and sustainability concepts have become essential in healthcare to meliorate the sector's negative impacts on the environment. The main aim of this study is to identify the barriers related to circular economy (CE) in the healthcare sector, apply big data analytics in healthcare, and provide solutions to these barriers. The contribution of this research is the detailed examination of the current healthcare literature about CE adaptation, and a proposal for a big data-enabled solutions framework to barriers to circularity, using fuzzy best-worst Method (BWM) and fuzzy VIKOR. Based on the findings, managerial, policy, and theoretical implementations are recommended to support sustainable development initiatives in the healthcare sector.
