Abstract
This research aimed at exploring Azerbaijan's path in pursuing sustainable energy after gaining independence. Secondary data collected from scholarly articles, reports from international organizations and governmental publications revealed that Azerbaijan has to work on two areas to achieve energy sustainability: renewable energy exploitation and energy efficiency improvement. Recommendations to achieve energy sustainability in Azerbaijan are discussed.
