    Master Thesis
    Modern Türk iç mekanlarında vitray
    (2026) Pamuk, Sude; Hasırcı, Deniz
The documentation of stained-glass applications in modern Turkish interiors has remained a relatively underexplored area in the literature, resulting in a significant gap within interior design historiography. While artistic contributions such as ceramics and mosaics in modern interiors have been more extensively documented and discussed, the role and presence of stained glass have largely been overlooked. This study aims to examine how stained glass was positioned in modern Turkish interiors not merely as a decorative element, but as an integrated design component capable of transforming spatial perception, light conditions, and interior atmosphere. In this context, stained-glass applications in both public and residential interiors are examined together in order to assess their use across different spatial scales. The research seeks to make visible the methodological challenges and structural gaps in the literature concerning the documentation of modern stained-glass works. The limited availability of archival material, the fragmentation of visual records across personal collections, and the difficulty of clearly tracing artist–work relationships have hindered the academic representation of this field. Accordingly, the study adopts an interdisciplinary approach that combines archival research, visual analysis, and historical contextualization. The findings demonstrate that stained glass occupied a meaningful place within the synthesis of the arts approach in modern Turkish interior production, while simultaneously remaining marginal in processes of documentation and historiographical evaluation. Beyond identifying these limitations, this study proposes a framework for reconsidering stained glass as a more visible and integral component of modern Turkish interior design history. Keywords: Modern Turkish Interiors, Documentation of Modern Interiors, Archiving, Modern Stained-glass, Stained-glass in Turkey.
