Correction 44th Febs Congress, From Molecules To Living Systems (2019) Posters (vol 9, Pg 65, 2019)(Wiley, 2019) Said, Harun Muayad; Gul, Guler; Akdoğan, Gül; Soysal, Yasemin[Abstract Not Available]Letter Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1About The Article Titled “a Different Scintigraphic Perspective On The Systolic Function Of The Left Ventricle-1” [“sol Ventrikül Sistolik Fonksiyonuna Sintigrafik Olarak Farklı Bir Bakış Açısı-1” Başlıklı Makale Hakkında](Galenos Publishing House, 2024) Taşçı, Cengiz; Tascs, Cengiz[No abstract available]Review Review Citation - WoS: 10Citation - Scopus: 9Advancements in Platinum Chemotherapy for Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer: Insights and Perspectives(ELSEVIER SCI LTD, 2024) Akkuş, Erman; Arslan, Çağatay; Ürün, YükselDespite improvements in survival, metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) remains a significant clinical challenge. While taxanes, new hormonal agents, radiopharmaceuticals, and PARP inhibitors offer valuable treatment options, this review explores the potential of platinum chemotherapies (carboplatin, cisplatin, and oxaliplatin) as alternative choices. Existing research demonstrates promising preliminary results for platinum-based therapies in mCRPC showing PSA response rates (7.7-95 %) and improved overall survival (8-26.6 months). However, chemotherapy-related cytopenias are a frequent side effect. Further research is underway to evaluate the efficacy of platinum regimens against specific mCRPC histopathological variants, particularly aggressive subtypes where the carboplatin and cabazitaxel combination is already recommended. The unique DNA-targeting action of platinum therapy holds promise for patients with deficient DNA repair (dDDR), especially those with BRCA mutations. This potential is supported by both preclinical and ongoing clinical research. Given the limited success of immunotherapy in mCRPC, researchers are exploring the potential for platinum therapies to enhance its efficacy. Additionally, trials are investigating the synergy of combining platinum therapy with both immunotherapy and PARP inhibitors. Further exploration into the effectiveness of platinum therapies in specific mCRPC subpopulations, particularly those with dDDR, is crucial for optimizing their future use. In conclusion, this review highlights the promising potential of platinum-based chemotherapy as a valuable treatment option for mCRPC. While current evidence is encouraging, ongoing research is essential to further optimize its efficacy, identify optimal combinations with other therapies, and better understand its impact on specific mCRPC subpopulations.Review Article Citation - WoS: 10Citation - Scopus: 11Alzheimer's Disease Research Progress in the Mediterranean Region: the Alzheimer's Association International Conference Satellite Symposium(Wiley, 2022) Sexton, Claire; Solis, Michele; Aharon-Peretz, Judith; Alexopoulos, Panagiotis; Yener, Görsev; Bayen, Eleonore; Birkenhager, Betty; Apostolova, Liana G.; Carrillo, MariaAs research and services in the Mediterranean region continue to increase, so do opportunities for global collaboration. To support such collaborations, the Alzheimer's Association was due to hold its seventh Alzheimer's Association International Conference Satellite Symposium in Athens, Greece in 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting was held virtually, which enabled attendees from around the world to hear about research efforts in Greece and the surrounding Mediterranean countries. Research updates spanned understanding the biology of, treatments for, and care of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD_ and other dementias. Researchers in the Mediterranean region have outlined the local epidemiology of AD and dementia, and have identified regional populations that may expedite genetic studies. Development of biomarkers is expected to aid early and accurate diagnosis. Numerous efforts have been made to develop culturally specific interventions to both reduce risk of dementia, and to improve quality of life for people living with dementia.Book Review American Grand Strategy Under Obama: Competing Discourses.(Oxford Univ Press, 2018) Devlen, Balkan[Abstract Not Available]Review Antineutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody-Associated Vasculitides: Clinical Manifestations and Pulmonary Involvement(Kare Publ, 2024) Parlak, E.Ş.; Şengül, A.; İn, E.Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitides (AAV) are necrotizing autoimmune vasculitis resulting from immune-mediated damage to small and medium-sized vessels. Three primary clinicopathological syndromes are defined in AAV: Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA). The disease may present as alveolar hemorrhage due to a systemic inflammatory response, purpuric rash due to vascular rupture, or segmental glomerular infarction due to vascular occlusion. The lungs are commonly affected organs in AAV, with lung involvement categorized into five main groups: pulmonary capillaritis characterized by granulomatous inflammation (lung nodules), tracheobronchial inflammation, diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (DAH), interstitial lung disease (ILD), and asthma. DAH and ILD are associated with a poor prognosis. The treatment goal is to achieve remission and prevent relapses. © 2024 Eurasian Journal of Pulmonology Published by Kare Media.Editorial Citation - WoS: 27Citation - Scopus: 35Artificial Intelligence and Radiomics in Nuclear Medicine: Potentials and Challenges(Springer, 2019) Aktolun, CumaliArtificial intelligence involves a wide range of smart techniques that are applicable to medical services including nuclear medicine. Recent advances in computer power, availability of accumulated digital archives containing large amount of patient images, and records bring new opportunities for the implementation of artificial techniques in nuclear medicine. Nuclear medicine community needs to adapt to this fast approaching smart era, to exploit the opportunities and tackle the problems associated with artificial intelligence tools. It is aimed in this editorial to outline the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence applications in nuclear medicine.Correction Artificial Intelligence and Radiomics in Nuclear Medicine: Potentials and Challenges (vol 46, Pg 2731, 2019)(Springer, 2020) Aktolun, Cumali[Abstract Not Available]Correction Citation - Scopus: 4The Associations of Dyadic Coping and Relationship Satisfaction Vary Between and Within Nations: a 35-Nation Study (Vol 7, Pg 1106, 2016)(Frontiers Media Sa, 2016) Hilpert, Peter; Randall, Ashley K.; Sorokowski, Piotr; Atkins, David C.; Sorokowska, Agnieszka; Ahmadi, Khodabakhsh; Yoo, Gyesook; Dural, SedaNote Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 5Attitudes Towards Ukrainian Refugees: Insights from the Literature(Routledge, 2025) Kentmen-Çin, C.The invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation in February 2022 prompted a significant influx of Ukrainian refugees into neighboring European countries. Comparative analyses have revealed that Ukrainian refugees generally received more favorable public reception compared to other groups, such as Syrians. This difference has been attributed to the perceived proximity and spillover risk of the war, as well as shared cultural values with Western countries. However, while initial sympathy towards Ukrainians is evident, concerns about economic implications and long-term costs may erode support over time. This highlights the need for sustained inquiry beyond war related empathy and cultural values. In response, this study calls for an in-depth exploration of refugee attitudes, recognizing the multifaceted nature of public opinion. Such understanding is essential for informing policymaking aimed at effectively supporting displaced populations and for fostering a more comprehensive and nuanced understanding of current European responses to the Ukrainian refugee crisis. This paper critically reviews existing literature on public attitudes towards immigrants and refugees, identifying key themes and proposing avenues for future research. © 2024 The European Association for the Advancement of the Social Sciences.Review Citation - WoS: 1Balkan Locus-Focus: Long 20th Century Visual Communication Design Histories(Mit Press, 2014) Ksenija, Berk[Abstract Not Available]Correction Bearing Fault Detection in Adjustable Speed Drives Via Self-Organized Operational Neural Networks (Oct, 10.1007/S00202-024-02764-3, 2024)(Springer, 2025) Kilickaya, Sertac; Eren, LeventReview Article Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 5Better Quality Built Environments: Design Review Panels as Applied in Cambridge, England(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2019) Durmaz-Drinkwater, Bahar; Platt, StephenThis paper describes how design review panels operate in England, focusing on three panels operating in Cambridge. It considers two questions: whether design review panels contribute to improving the quality of the built environment, and whether they are an important element of the design process. The analysis focuses on the quality and process of urban design, based on face-to-face qualitative interviews with planners, developers and panel members. In conclusion, despite the several shortcomings, the paper argues that the panels contribute to better dialogue between the different actors of the process, and hence can improve the quality of built environments.Review Beyoglu Culture Route(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2023) Bici Nasır, Esra; Nasır, Esra BiciSelcuk Artut's works, which take their reference from geometric patterns, have often had influence, sparking many new ideas and generating innovative thinking. His recent exhibition, entitled as Geomart-ut7, in the Beyoglu Culture Route programme, located at Ataturk Cultural Centre in Istanbul, creates a multi-layered venue for contemplation. The geometric patterns which move, float, diverge and converge by the means of computer coding on tall digital screens, and most of these take their inspiration from the marvels of geometrical artworks that are observed throughout history. However when we carefully observe these animated geometrical patterns, we see that the artist's works are not merely the replicas of traditional patterns; through animation, the geometrical patterns, which are animated by coding techniques, change their angles and directions, yielding intermediary figures. The current creation process, which was defined by the artist himself as Dialectical Creativity, emerges because of mutual interactions between the artist and the computer, which he uses to communicate through the code language. The fundamentals of this artistic production cover the themes of repetition, meditative effect and infinity; thus, it is very appropriate to consider Artut's artworks in the contemporary age. Here we see the attempt of the artist to derive ideas from his deeply-rooted heritage, and make the meaningful connections with the past, even while emerging onto the contemporary art scene.Review Article Citation - WoS: 270Citation - Scopus: 285Borate Glasses for Scientific and Industrial Applications: a Review(Springer, 2016) Bengisu, MuratResearch in borate glasses has started as a scientific curiosity and as an aid to explain the structure of oxide glasses in general. This effort led to a better understanding of the structure and unique properties of borate glasses. Although silicate and borosilicate glasses satisfy the vast majority of scientific and industrial needs, there are certain circumstances where they are not satisfactory. Furthermore, borate glasses offer certain advantages over silicate glasses which are not well known, neither well explored. However, certain characteristics of borate glasses such as their affinity to water requires that they are well selected, designed, or developed to satisfy the specifications of a given application. This review aims to explore and report some of the key properties of binary borate glasses. It also provides certain guidelines for several applications where the scientific literature is discussed in connection with industrial experience and technological needs.Book Review Branding and Place Identity of Scientific Innovation in Life Sciences(Sage Publications Ltd, 2018) Oner, Asli Ceylan[Abstract Not Available]Review Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 4Building Competency To Deal With Environmental Health Challenges: Experiences and a Proposal(Frontiers Media Sa, 2024) Leonardi, Giovanni S.; Zeka, Ariana; Ashworth, Matthew; Bouland, Catherine; Crabbe, Helen; Duarte-Davidson, Raquel; Lauriola, Paolo; Gökdemir, ÖzdenThe global landscape of professional training in environmental health, encompassing ecological public health or environmental public health, lacks consistent global implementation for training programs for public health practitioners, clinical professionals, and individuals across various disciplines, as well as standardized curricula for undergraduates. This training gap is related to the overall lack of capacity in addressing the population impacts of the triple challenge of pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change, impeding the worldwide transition to and development of ecological sustainability. This paper reviews existing approaches and their potential to address implementation challenges within the necessarily tight timescale. Spreading of best practice appears feasible even without substantial additional resources, through the reorientation of current practices via comprehensive multi-disciplinary training programs. By adopting international best practices of training in environmental health, the focus in training and education can shift from future decision-makers to enhancing the competencies of current professionals and their institutions.Letter Can E-Cigarettes Be the Source of Lead Toxicity(AVES, 2025) Yılmaz, Seda; Kılınc, Oguz; Atik, Merve Demirci; Demirci Atik, MerveReview Article Citation - WoS: 3The Care of Patient With Urostomy(Galenos Yayincilik, 2015) Harputlu, DENİZUrostomy surgery changes not only body structure but also lifestyle of the patients.
