Yaşamın Çevrimiçi Okulu: Alain de Botton’un ‘The School Of Life’ Oluşumunun Strateji ve Taktik Olarak Analizi
(2020-12-31) Gürsoy, A. Özgür; Karanfil, Gokcen
The School of Life isimli kişisel gelişim oluşumunun analizi oluşturmaktadır. Makale söz konusu organizasyonun özellikle YouTube kanalını ve çevrimiçi satış mecrasını, belirtilen kuramsal çerçeve içinde inceleyerek, The School of Life’ın (ve benzer kişisel gelişim organizasyonlarının) bir analizini sunmaktadır.

Educating Future Public Relations Professionals: a Socially Oriented Approach
(Marmara Univ, Fac Communication, 2024-01-26) Bicakci, A. banu; Kuyucu, Melike Aktas; Aktaş, Melike
The view that organizational goals and priorities in the field of public relations should be balanced with a social orientation is increasingly gaining ground in both professional practices and academic approaches and how the future of public relations should be structured within this framework is being discussed. The impacts, results, benefits, and values produced by public relations approaches and practices in the social context are important as the building blocks that shape the future. This study, which aims to question the future of public relations education with a socially oriented approach, examines the outputs of the international project titled "The Future of Public Relations/Communication and their Social Impact" on education, which is one of the three focal points of the project, with a particular focus on T & uuml;rkiye. This study, in which data was collected in four stages with the Delphi method, aimed to reveal expert opinions on the necessities, importance, and how a public relations education can be structured on the axis of social impact, benefit, and value; and to share the views of academics and practitioners in order to provide insights for the future of education in the field. While questioning the structure, context, and content required for an ideal public relations education to expand public relations practices with social functions, roles, and responsibilities as well as organisational ones in the future, the participants' evaluations on the current state of public relations education and training were also consulted.

(Marmara univ, fac communication, 2024-06-30) Tos, Onur; Ercifci, Aytunç
Big data components are shaping the digital public sphere. The areas of use for big data components in the digital public sphere are expanding, and in this context, new digital possibilities affecting social life are increasing. This study focuses on the documentary film The Great Hack, , directed by J. Noujaim and K. Amer, which was released on the Netflix platform in 2019. The aim of the study is to identify the elements of the concept of digital public space and big data components in The Great Hack documentary film that shape the film and the narrative. It also aims to identify the embedded meanings underlying these elements. The main research question is: What are the open, axial, and selective coding transfers in the documentary film using the grounded theory approach? The data collection technique for the research is document analysis. The method of analysis is the grounded theory design, which can be used in qualitative research processes. Open, axial, and selective coding of the interaction of digital public space and big data is performed using the grounded theory pattern, adhering to the documentary film's style and narrative. In addition, themes, categories, and codes between the concepts are identified, and the connections and interactions between them are explained. As a result of the analyses, it was determined that digital media and digital traces were emphasized in the documentary film's style and narrative. Additionally, in the interaction of digital public space and big data components in the documentary film, it was found that digitalization, people's personal profiles, privacy, and data collection and processing processes are highlighted.

Exploring the Factors Affecting Shared Biking Perception: Insights From Türkiye
(Ege univ, fac economics & admin sciences, 2024-04-08) Oflaç, Bengü; Özcan, Seda; Sevil Oflac, Bengu
Understanding consumer perception regarding shared biking services requires the analysis of psychological factors underlying the late diffusion of shared biking services. In this regard, by scrutinizing these underlying factors, we aim to uncover insights that can inform the development of targeted business strategies that better align with users' preferences and needs, thereby overcoming barriers to adoption and facilitating the wider dissemination of shared biking systems. Findings show that as consumers perceive shared biking services as useful and hedonic, their attitudes become more favorable. Importantly, highlighting the mediating role of compatibility, this study emphasizes the congruence among shared biking services, consumers' lifestyles, and their traveling habits. Findings also suggest that perceived complexity has a negative impact on shared biking attitudes. Interestingly, no significant relationship was found between perceived risk and shared biking attitude. The findings provide further support for innovation diffusion and theory of reasoned action. The suggested theoretical framework integrates variables related to both barriers and drivers, thus guiding future studies on the sharing economy. The study also provides insights that contribute to the development of service design and marketing strategies that respond better to users' needs, and also, facilitate the spread of these mobility systems.

Current Evaluation and Recommendations for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools in Education
(Walter De Gruyter Gmbh, 2023-12-01) Sagin, Ferhan Girgin; Özkaya, Ali Burak; Tengiz, Funda; Geyik, Öykü Gönül; Geyik, Caner
This paper discusses the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in education, delineating their potential to transform pedagogical practices alongside the challenges they present. Generative AI models like ChatGPT, had a disruptive impact on teaching and learning, due to their ability to create text, images, and sound, revolutionizing educational content creation and modification. However, nowadays the educational community is polarized, with some embracing AI for its accessibility and efficiency thus advocating it as an indispensable tool, while others cautioning against risks to academic integrity and intellectual development. This document is designed to raise awareness about AI tools and provide some examples of how they can be used to improve education and learning. From an educator's perspective, AI is an asset for curriculum development, course material preparation, instructional design and student assessment, while reducing bias and workload. For students, AI tools offer personalized learning experiences, timely feedback, and support in various academic activities. The Turkish Biochemical Society (TBS) Academy recommends educators to embrace and utilize AI tools to enhance educational processes, and engage in peer learning for better adaptation while maintaining a critical perspective on their utility and limitations. The transfer of AI knowledge and methods to the teaching experiences should complement and not replace the educator's creativity and critical thinking. The paper advocates for an informed embrace of AI, AI fluency among educators and students, ethical application of AI in academic settings, and continuous engagement with the evolving AI technologies, ensuring that AI tools are used to augment critical thinking and contribute positively to education and society.

2011-2013 Constitution-Making Process and Media Field in Turkey
(2019) Akın, Altuğ; Yaman Akyar, Burcu; Akyar, Burcu Yaman
This paper examines so-called “Constitutional Process” which took place between 2011 and 2013 in Turkey to eventually fail after more than two years of intense work and rise of expectations both in Turkish society and international community from the perspective of media and communications. How Turkish media influenced the constitution making process including workings of Constitutional Conciliation Commission is discussed, surveying relevant media content or performance with a particular focus on the political economy of Turkish media during that period. Traditional media outlets such as newspapers and television channels, and nowadays largely digital platforms, function as present-day agoras where political agenda is determined and contested. These online and offline channels have different levels of influence on discussions of the political elite, as presented extensively in media and communication studies. Together with the global media environment, national media foster the emergence of its own elites, while maintaining multi-layered relationships with high-level political decision-making processes. Media channels therefore bear symbolic powers that impact political policymaking by employing methods such as agenda setting and framing. In this line of thought, this article approaches Turkish media space as a specific field while its content and its political economy are examined in relation with the constitution making process to reveal the role played by media during highly politicized processes, such as constitution making, as well as eliciting the dynamics that herald such media performance.

Assessing Service-Learning Approach: Semantic Meanings of Learning Outcomes and Student Experiences
(2021-12-31) Türkel, Selin; Uzunoğlu, Ebru; Ünsal, Pınar Umul
This study uncovers existing practices of service-learning (SL) in higher education institutions. This was achieved by an examination of 64 courses in Turkish universities with accessible learning outcomes. The study also incorporates a “best practice” case study, a communication campaign combatting hate speech against refugee children. A comparison was made of general learning outcomes and individual and community outcomes reported by 43 students enrolled in the course in which the campaign was executed. Both text-based learning outcomes and student interview data were subject to semantic network analysis. SL courses in general display a strong emphasis on learning through projects, but the case study results indicated an absence of important outcomes such as engagement and citizenship values. In other respects, these courses not only aimed at significant learning outcomes in cognitive and affective domains, but also at assisting the transfer of necessary communication skills. The study presents insights for development of higher education curricula and implications for further research.
