Letter Elderly but Could Be Mastoiditis?(Cukurova Univ, Fac Medicine, 2023-03-31) Gökdemir, Özden; Özcakar, Nilgun[No Abstract Available]Article Citation - WoS: 2Living With a Foreign Organ: Counselling Needs of Living Liver Transplant Recipients(Cukurova Univ, Fac Medicine, 2018-03-31) Iseri, Ozge Pekin; Karayurt, Ozgul; Yilmaz, SezaiPurpose: Liver transplantation can be a lifesaving option for people with acute/chronic liver failure. Although liver transplantation has positive outcomes, the recipients experience many physical, psychological and social problems. It is of great importance to satisfy their needs for counselling so that they can overcome these problems. The aim of the study was to describe the counselling needs of living liver transplant recipients. Materials and Methods: A descriptive qualitative research design was used. The study was conducted between November 2012 and December 2012. In-depth interviews were performed with sixteen participants who had experiences of living liver transplantation. Data were analyzed with inductive content analysis. Results: The liver transplant recipients' counselling needs were categorized into two main themes: pretransplantation period counselling needs'' and posttransplant period counselling needs''. Subthemes were also identified and described. The first main theme had three subthemes (causes and symptoms of liver failure, treatment process, living donors) and the second main theme had four subthemes (medications used, possible complications, sexuality and body image and life after transplantation). Conclusions: The results indicate that the living liver transplant recipients' currently have insufficient knowledge about transplantation periods and they need counselling.Article Citation - WoS: 1Evaluation of Perioperative Practices According To Eras Protocol in Elective Cesarean Surgery(Cukurova Univ, Fac Medicine, 2020) Ozkececi, Fulden; Yavan, Tulay; Ozkeçecı, FuldenPurpose: This study was conducted as a descriptive and prospective study to evaluate perioperative practices in elective cesarean operations according to the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. Materials and Methods: The research was conducted between 01 August 2016 and 31 May 2017 at an Education and Research Hospital Obstetrics Clinic. The sample consisted of 100 volunteer women that planning elective cesarean surgery. Data collecting form consisted of some descriptive characteristics of women and ERAS protocol proposals. Results: Mean preoperative solid food restriction time was 12,17 +/- 3,37 hours, mean preoperative fluid restriction time was 10,36 +/- 2,85 hours. 77% of women was applied spinal anesthesia; 23% of them was applied general anesthesia; in order to prevent intraoperative hypothermia, all women underwent a heating under mattress and air blankets in the wake unit. Surgical incision size was found to be 15,83 +/- 0,81 cm. Postoperatively, it was calculated that the time of remove of urinary catheter was an average of 7,99 +/- 2,86, the time of release of gas was an average of 15,29 +/- 6,36 hours and the time to start solid food was an average of 16,46 +/- 5,85 hours. Conclusion: According to the findings obtained in the study, most of the practices were compatible with the ERAS protocols. About practices that are different; It is recommended to review preoperative information, preoperative fasting, starting postoperative food intake and initiation of breastfeeding.Article Alzheimer Hastaliği Klinik Olcutlerine Gore Demans ve Hafif Kognitif Bozukluk Ayriminda Sozel Akicilik Testlerinin Mini Mental Durum Testi ile Birlikte Kullanilmasi Yararli Olabilir(Cukurova Univ, Fac Medicine, 2022-12-28) Isbitiren, Yagmur Ozbek; Kiyi, Ilayda; Yener, Görsev; Özbek, Yağmur; Öz, DidemPurpose: The aim of this study is to present the sensitivity, specificity and cut-off points of Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), semantic and phonemic fluency tests determined by ROC curve analysis in differentiating between Alzheimer's dementia (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).Materials and Methods: Age-education-sex matched 72 healthy individuals, 72 MCI and 72 AD dementia individuals were included in the study. MMSE, semantic and phonemic fluency tests were applied to all participants. Sensitivity and specificity values and cut-off scores of MMSE, semantic and phonemic fluency tests in distinguishing healthy, MCI and ADD individuals were obtained by ROC curve analysis. Results: ROC analyses show that all three tests can significantly discriminate between healthy, ADD and MCI individuals. It was seen that the discrimination power of the MMSE was higher than the verbal fluency tests when the areas under the ROC curve were compared. The specificity of semantic fluency was found to be higher than MMSE and phonemic fluency in distinguishing individuals with ADD and MCI.Conclusion: The findings of the study show that MMSE is stronger than semantic and phonemic fluency in distinguishing healthy individuals, but its specificity is lower than semantic fluency in distinguishing MCI and AD dementia. In order to increase the diagnostic accuracy, it may be effective to add verbal fluency tests, especially semantic fluency test, which can be applied in a short time, to clinical practice.Letter Type 2 Diabetes and Atrial Fibrillation Could Cause Transient Ischemic Attack(Cukurova Univ, Fac Medicine, 2022-12-28) Gokdemir, Ozden; Batur, Ulku Bulut; Gurkan, Anil; Gürkan, Muharrem Anıl[Abstract Not Available]
