    Pallet Detection and Docking With Autonomous Forklift;

    Pallet handling operations in factories and warehouses are vital to ensure continuity and increase productivity. These operations using forklifts face some difficulties in terms of time, cost and efficiency. One way to circumvent these problems is to use mobile autonomous robots. However, autonomous robots may also experience difficulties in such operations. One of these difficulties is autonomous docking. Completion of the docking operation in the desired time, working with good precision and not exceeding the determined cost values are still issues in the field of robotics. The main goal of this study is to provide an easily integrated and low-cost solution for problems frequently encountered in the field of robotics, such as docking and pallet detection in autonomous forklifts. The difference of the image processing mechanism, developed for the pallet detection, is that the sensor used is a low-cost depth camera. The planner has been designed in an easily manipulable way and the requiered precision for picking the pallet have been achieved with a cross-track error of ±3 cm or less, and orientation error of ±4° or less. Performance of the developed system has been tested in a simulation environment on a non-holonomic, tricycle forklift. © 2024 IEEE.

    Otonom Forklift ile Palet Tespiti ve Hassas Yanaşma

    Palet taşıma süreçleri, intralojistik uygulamalarda iş akışının sürekliliğini sağlamak ve verimliliği artırmak bakımından kritik bir rol oynar. Forkliftlerle gerçekleştirilen bu işlemler, zaman yönetimi, maliyet optimizasyonu ve operasyonel etkinlik açısından çeşitli zorluklarla karşılaşmaktadır. Bu zorlukları aşmak için çatallı, forklift benzeri otonom mobil robotların devreye alınması önerilmektedir. Buna rağmen, otonom sistemler de hassas yanaşma gerektiren palet taşıma görevlerinde belirli zorluklarla karşılaşabilmektedir. Söz konusu yanaşma operasyonunun hedeflenen sürede tamamlanması, yüksek doğrulukla gerçekleştirilmesi ve öngörülen maliyet sınırları içinde kalması, robotik alanda hâlâ aktif olarak üzerinde çalışılan konular arasındadır. Bu çalışmanın asıl amacı, çatallı otonom robotlarda hassas yanaşma ve palet tespiti gibi robotik alanında sıkça karşılaşılan sorunlar için swerve-sürüş kinematiğine sahip, manevra kabiliyeti yüksek bir çözüm sunmaktır. Swerve-sürüş holonomik bir yapı olmasına rağmen yük kapasitesi alışagelmiş forkliftlerle aynıdır ve konvansiyonel tekerlekler kullanmasından ötürü çekiş konusunda diğer holonomik sistemlerden daha avantajlıdır. Palet tespiti için geliştirilen görüntü işleme mekanizması hem Kinect v1 derinlik kamerası ile, hem de simülasyon üzerinde aynı parametrelere sahip bir sistem ile test edilmiştir. Hassas yanaşma kısmında ROS 2 ile entegre bir planlayıcı kullanılmış, swerve-sürüşe sahip robotun kontrolü içinse özelleştirilmiş bir kontrolcüden yararlanılmıştır. Geliştirilen sistemin performansı Gazebo simülasyon ortamında test edilmiştir. Palete girebilmek için gerekli hassasiyetin yatay eksendeki ve yönelimdeki hatanın düşük tutularak sağlandığı görülmüştür.
