dc.description.abstract This study aims to analyze the effects of using diesel fuel partially with kerosene on the jet engine’s performance by using exergetic sustainability parameters in obligatory cases where there is no or limited access to JP-8 fuel. Low altitude use will also overcome the negative effects of diesel use at low temperatures. To this extent, firstly, the exergy analysis was implemented on the jet engine components. Exergy flows were determined as fuel and product for each component: compressor, combustion chamber, gas turbine, and nozzle. Exergy destructions for each component were obtained. The calculated exergy destructions were one of the key figures to understand the improvement potentials of the jet engine components. Then four exergetic sustainability parameters: exergy efficiency (EE), waste exergy ratio (WER), environmental effect factor (EEF), and exergetic sustainability index (ESI), were studied. According to the findings, it was concluded that partial use of diesel can be an alternative for low altitudes in small UAV turbojet engines in case of emergencies. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024. en_US
