Bu çalışma yine Batılı olmayan dünyadaki Öteki’nin resmedildiği, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’ın çok beğeni toplayan ‘Saraydan Kız Kaçırma’ (‘Die Entführung aus dem Serail’) Operası’nın Covid-19 pandemisi nedeniyle Türkiye’de İstanbul Devlet Operası’nda 2020’de özel olarak tasarlanan ve sahnelenen temsili mercek altına alınmaktadır. Kuramsal çerçeve, çeviribilimde dilsel ve performans sanatlarında müzikal bir kavram olarak karşımıza çıkan yeniden yazım kavramı üzerine oturtulmuştur. Şimdiye dek alanyazında eserler üzerinde yapılmış olan yeniden yazımlar ya sadece çeviribilim ya da performans sanatları çerçevesi dahilinde irdelenmiştir. Dolayısıyla, bu çalışma bir performans sanatında yeniden yazımı çeviribilimsel ve müzikal olarak ele almakta olan ilk çalışma niteliğindedir. Çalışmanın başlıca amacı söz konusu eserin bu yeniden yazımı için medyada sunulan gerekçelendirmeleri Genette’nin (1997) dış yan metin öğeleri çerçevesinde irdelemek ve sonuçta ortaya çıkan değişiklikleri disiplinlerarası ve betimleyici bir yaklaşım sunmak suretiyle çözümlemektir. Araştırmacıların konu alanları itibari ile müzikal, dilsel ve kültürel olarak değişen yönler, basında temsil ile ilgili yazılı ve sözlü haberler, rejisör ve koreograf söyleşilerinin olduğu videolar taranarak ve buna ilaveten her iki alandan birer sanatçı/uzman görüşüne başvurularak sistematik bir şekilde ele alınacaktır. Çalışma yeniden yazım kapsamında salgınla ilişkilendirilebilecek değişikliklerin yanısıra hiç ilgisi olmayabilecek değişiklikler de ortaya koymaktadır. Yerlileştirmenin izlerinin sürüldüğü salgınla ilgisi olmayan bu sonuçlar van Dijk’in (1998) yaptığı, Biz-Onlar ayrımı çerçevesinde tartışılmaktadır. Çalışma, bir performans sanatının yeniden yazımı gibi çok katmanlı bir konuyu ele alırken sunduğu, yazarların bildiği kadarıyla bu anlamda ilk olma özelliği taşıyan çalışmada Müzik ve Çeviribilim alanlarını birleştirerek yaptığı disiplinlerarası betimlemeyle, daha kapsamlı bir bakış açısı getirerek, bundan sonra gelecek disiplinlerarası çalışmaların önünü açmayı hedeflemiştir.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Intralingual Translation and Paratext: a Centennial Chase of Tevfik Fikret's Sermin(Ahmet Yesevi Univ, 2015) Kansu Yetkiner, Neslihan; Yetkin Karakoç, Nihal; Karakoç, Nihal Yetkin; Yetkiner, Neslihan KansuThe limited number of studies on intralingual translations reveals that the act of intralingual translation is named with different wording in the analysis of intralingual translations made from Ottoman into Turkish, and there is no agreement on its definition. The aim of this descriptive study is to shed light on the interventions made on diachronic intralingual translations both on intralingual and paratextual contexts and to follow the adventure of modernization through 30 different versions of Sermin (1914) by Tevfik Fikret, which constitutes one of the first children's poem books in the Turkish children's literature. The scrutiny of the intralingual translation strategies indicates that the apparent language modernization taking into account current linguistic features is not made on lexical and structure bases only, as the publishing house policies, pedagogical and ideological concerns have also a manipulative effect through paratextual elements in this process.Article Citation - WoS: 2Accidental Humor in Consecutive Interpreting: Accidentally Useful Food for Thought(Istanbul Univ, Fac Letters, 2021-11-26) Yetkin Karakoç, Nihal; Karakoç, Nihal Yetkin; Yetkin-Karakoc, NihalUnlike humor translation, humor in translation, caused by translation errors, is underresearched in translation studies. Accidental humor, as a subgroup of humor, has been analyzed in translation contexts, but to the best knowledge of the author, not in the interpreting context. This descriptive study, being the first of its kind dealing with the accidental humor in consecutive interpreting, is intended to fill the gap in the verbal manifestations of resources in the English-Turkish interpreting context along with the possible reasons for resources of accidental humor in consecutive interpreting class. As a result of the study, a total of 38 accidentally humorous instances are found. The verbal resources are analyzed and divided into main and sub-categories, and for each, examples from the corpus are discussed. In addition, new linguistic resources were discovered, which may be exclusive to this context. The detected items are by no means meant to be exhaustive, as also stated by the former studies, but nevertheless enables greater understanding about the types and possible causes of accidental humor which may occur during the consecutive interpreting process. Given the dearth of literature on accidental humor in consecutive interpreting, this study may provide some insight for remedial teaching/learning in interpreting studies, as well as linguistics. Future studies may examine, among the others, verbal resources in the simultaneous interpreting context and compare the verbal resources in depth in consecutive with those in simultaneous interpreting.
